After being away from books and computer for a week, just felt like breathing fresh air, when I sat in front of computer again.
Was reading the Malayalam Novel “Oru Sankeerthanam Pole”, by Perumpadavam Sreedharan last week when I got a little free time. Dostoevsky – A man misundertood – such a thought runs to your mind after you close the book.

I don’t know how many times I have read this book before. Yet during each re-read a different aspect captivates my heart. Sometimes, it is pure love which takes us to divinity, as he rightfully concludes the novel :

“Just one moment. Giving into the invincible inspiration of that moment, Dostoevsky embraced Anna from that roadside. It was like a soul resurrected from tragedy or death meeting its partner on a branch of eternity.”

Sometimes it is the philosophy which keeps you engaged.. or may be the depth with which he judges himself and the mankind. Read this :

“Dostoevsky said :

I am in deep trouble. Whenever I try to untie the knot, it tightens. Nobody understands that. There is no point in blaming anyone for that. Even I don’t understand my worries. My fate is like a sentence whose meaning even its author cannot grasp. I am talking about God.”

See the philosophy about his own life..

“Both our life and death are inside our heart. I have lived inside my heart till now. The rest of my life also will be the same.”

The story outlines the circumstances where a stenographer, Anna, who comes to assist Dostoevsky to complete a novel, becomes his life partner. The story unfolds the ups and downs of Dostoevsky’s life along with this.

Yet, these are not the factors, which make the book unique. It’s the gift of the author to make the reader live with the book, instead of reading it. The dark nights of St. Petersberg, the joy and sorrow inside the gambling place, even the fits of Dostoevsky, which he takes as an inspiration to his creativity rather than a disease… All those moments are just like sketches drawn and displayed as a slideshow… The moments we live or die, sing or jump or just sit and watch breathless…When Dostoevsky embraces Anna towards the final lines of the book, the reader rises to the same eternity where one soul meets its partner with a divine intervention.
