Self Actualization – Heard the term first from Visakh. It basically implies the sense of self-fullfillment (Did I put too many “L”s in that word? Something I hate while spelling words), the satisfaction you get while doing things which test your potential.
The term is good, when we do it, even better. Fortunately, or unfortunately that is what is happening everyday for me. Lots to write, including the worse things, documentation :-)
I have a draft in my kmail, saved on last August 13, with subject “Chak De India lyrics”. I guess I had planned to write something about the song. Anyway, 6 months have erased the idea from my head.
Then this mail comes to all in Poornam, “After a great celebration of the new year do not forget to be there with Poornam Plex. Enjoy your new year with Chak DE India!!!”
Okay, if it is fun, fine.
Was it?
No.
Chak De India – it was no fun. It makes you sit spellbound, glued to the chair, and your eyes glued to the screen.
I was never an SRK fan. But I surely am a Kabir Khan fan (SRK in Chak De India). I first saw the movie on January 1st, now ask me how many times I saw it again, I will need more fingers :-)
Kabir Khan, the famous Indian national hockey player, he is there on the screen from the very first second.
Indian-Pakistan match - wonderful way of starting a movie :-) It automatically raises your adrenaline. Make it a sports, tag it India-Pakistan and you lose it, anyone will be shouted at, whether it is real life or reel life.
Kabir Khan looses the match during penalty stroke, and is tagged as a traitor, just for showing sheer sportsman spirit by shaking hands with his opponent.
When he tries for a come back, it is as the coach of Indian national Women’s Hockey Team. There starts the SRK magic. There are two heroes in the movie. The story and SRK.
The way he builds team spirit from a group of wild girls, is something I love to watch. Each scene is a learning experience.
If you are a manager, you have options. You can accept the idea, question it and refine it for your own use. Don’t skip frames, you are skipping ideas..
May be one of the very few movies where there are more villains than heroes.. The list of villains Kabir Khan and his girls have to fight against, is very long :
- Politics
- Racism
- Ego
- Society
.. and a lot more…

Warning: After writing, I am not satisfied with this post. I think I have not done justice to my imotions while watching Chak de India. So, more to come .. :-)
