I have read the book many times, I have seen the movie a couple of times. I should give Chetan Bhagat the credit to start with, for the book being more realistic than the movie. Aamir has made it a commercial roller coaster, but to the spectrum of minds FPS was fresh air, Aamir’s movie is Room freshner.. But, when I say that, I will reveal my intuition also. If I was Chetan Bhagat: I don’t need publicity anymore. I am already popular and my book has earned enough. But, who would mind extra bucks..? If I was Aamir khan: I am happy to see the overwhelming success over the release week end. But, again I want my movie to be the biggest. I know that a controversy will rapidly fuel the collections. I dont need to pay for ads since the news channels will cover the controversy for free.. So, I go to Chetan Bhagat, and tell him. ok.. Lets do this.. The advantage to you being this, My fans who have seen the movie already 3-4 times will now buy your book, just to see if you are lying or not.. My advantage will be that, the lakhs of your readers who are reluctant to go to the crowded cinemas will be curious to know the truth in the gossip.. Both parties are benifitted.. All izz well in marketing.. Footnote : Aaamir : Clever but pathetically dishonest and lacking basic courtesy Vidhu vinod chora : Arrogant and nasty.
